The Church of the Holy Trinity
1904 Walnut Street, Philadelphia
Three distinctive Philadelphia choruses present music that celebrates understanding and inclusiveness, in a concert featured at Philadelphia Equality Forum 2009. Each chorus will perform separately, and then come together - nearly 300 singers - in three works for chorus and percussion, commissioned especially for this collaboration from local composers Cynthia Folio, Peter Hilliard and Robert Maggio.
The Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus, under the artistic direction of Joseph Buches, is the region's largest all-male chorus, with over 100 members. Founded in 1981, it is one of the nation's first gay men's choruses.
Anna Crusis Women's Choir, under the artistic direction of Jacqueline Coren, is the country's longest-running feminist choir - empowering its audiences on important issues of the day since 1975.
Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia, under the artistic leadership of Alan Harler, is a 130-member SATB chorus known for innovative choral performances. Founded in 1874, it is one of the oldest choruses in this country.

Mendelssohn Club accomplished what is, for many, the impossible: its Sunday concert at the Kimmel Center gave you reason to respect Carl Orff's annoyingly popular Carmina Burana.

The Mendelssohn Club sang Beethoven Sympothy No. 9 better than ever, and with a clarity that often evades large choral ensembles.
