Amanda Schkeeper, Executive Director

Amanda Schkeeper joined Mendelssohn Club in January 2015 as Executive Director. In her position, Amanda is responsible for fundraising, asset management, marketing, public relations, concert production, strategic planning, and day-to-day operations of the organization. In past capacities Amanda has served as Director of Development for Choral Arts Philadelphia and the Bach Festival of Philadelphia, Assistant Director of Development for the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and as a middle school music teacher. Amanda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Westminster Choir College and has sung professionally with the Philadelphia Singers, the Meridian Vocal Consort, American Choral Scholars, and several area churches. Amanda lives in New Jersey with her husband Brian, a choral conductor, two sons Edison and Humphrey, and three spunky cats.

Michael Stiles is a Philadelphia-based freelance performer and teaching-artist on French horn.  He has performed in a variety of locations and ensembles in the greater Philadelphia region, such as The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and Orchestra2001.  He maintains a private studio in his home.   In addition to orchestral and chamber music playing, he is interested in audience engagement, interactive music-making, and using music as a tool for social change.  Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas and a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Delaware.  His primary teachers were John David Smith at Delaware, and William Scharnberg at North Texas.  In addition to these widely-respected pedagogues, he has studied with and played in master-classes for Denise Tryon, Jeff Lang, Howard Wall, Lin Foulk, Jeffrey Agrell, Douglas Hill, Patrick Hughes, Kerry Turner, and Joseph Eger.
