Join Mendelssohn Club as we prepare for our North American premiere of Felix Mendelssohn’s edition of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion by exploring Bach’s enduring influence on Mendelssohn. Bach’s monumental cycles of cantatas and endlessly inventive treatment of Lutheran chorale melodies inspired Mendelssohn in his choral and organ works.  Sing along with Mendelssohn Club Chorus on select chorales.   A few thoughts presented by our artistic director Alan Harler, who traveled to Oxford to study the annotations Mendelssohn made on Bach’s original score, will introduce you to a version of St. Matthew Passion that has never been performed in North America. Begin your journey to our premiere of Mendelssohn’s revision of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion concert in February, 2015 with this musical, informative, and interactive program.
