The Space We Keep explores memory, love, and belonging through works ranging from Fanny Hensel's intimate "Gartenlieder" to Bernstein's hopeful "Make Our Garden Grow." What drew you to these particular pieces, and how do they reflect the journey you've had with MCP?

In the simplest of terms, I want to be moved. Every single day of my life I want to be moved, stirred, inspired, and loved. To quote the equally simple lyrics in “Make Our Garden Grow,” Bernstein sets music to “we’re neither pure, nor wise, nor good. We’ll do the best we know. We’ll build our house and chop our wood, and make our garden grow.” To me, this is the meaning of a good life.

Each of the pieces in this conert move my heart so greatly, and are a different representation of what defines a truly good life.

For the last five years, I have found myself in the company of people who largely feel the same. Week after week, MCP shares their goodness, their inspiration, their connectivity, their love, their giving, their laughter, their tenacity, their curiosity, their want (and so much more), and it all moves me deeply. I chose pieces that were worthy of them, that also defined my standard of a life well lived.
